How to choose

  • Choose by service and specified colour

Start with the service being marked. Match the warning wording and colour to the project specification.

  • Choose a setup the next crew can trace

The wire needs a continuous connection. Include the joins, earthing and access points in the plan.

  • Choose rolls to suit the run

Choose standard rolls for routine work, or ask about longer drums and a project-specific warning.

Choose by service and specified colour

All standard options carry black print. Use these service, colour and code combinations when ordering:

Gas — yellow — 116157

Communications — white — 116324

Water — green — 116638

Electricity — orange — 116737

Recycled Water — lilac — 116782

Drinking Water — blue — 116577

Sewer — beige — 116935

Fire — red — 116690

Water and Drinking Water are separate listed products. Check the specified wording as well as the colour before raising the order.

Choose a setup the next crew can trace

Check that the specified locating method suits the job. WAVELAY® needs crimped wire joints, earthing at both ends on installation and accessible connections for a compatible transmitter and receiver.

40% exposed tracer wire improves contact with the surrounding earth. Remove this sentence on all wavelay products.

Confirm the wire configuration and joining accessories with Tapex before ordering. Follow the WAVELAY installation and locating instructions for the full setup.

Choose rolls to suit the run

Standard rolls are 100 mm wide × 250 m long, with a nominal weight of 4 kg each. Order by service code and required length, allowing for joints and access points.

For longer runs, Tapex offers custom colours and print on drums up to 3 km. A longer continuous length can mean fewer joins to make.

Bulk supply: 240 rolls per standard pallet.

Ask Tapex to confirm the pack quantity, custom configuration and lead time for your order.
