How to Choose the right
barrier fence for the job

  • Choose by time on site

How long the fence stays up, and whether it needs another round, helps narrow the range.

  • Choose by coverage and carrying weight

A longer roll puts more fence along the line. Check the height and carrying weight before you load up.

  • Choose by mesh grade

Roll weight tells you what you carry. Grams per square metre tells you how much material is in the mesh.

Choose by time on site

For short jobs, start with Economy Barrier Fence (4 kg), the lightweight knitted option. Budget Barricade (5 kg) and Barrier Mesh (8 kg) cover short to medium-term use.

For medium-term work where reuse matters, look at Bison Barrier Mesh (9 kg) or Enduro Barrier Mesh (11 kg). Hi-Vis Heavy Duty Barrier Mesh (14 kg) is the range’s long-term option and is also reusable.

Check the mesh before putting it back to work. Tapex’s duration categories guide the choice; they do not specify a fixed number of months or years.

Choose by coverage and carrying weight

Economy gives you 50 m at 900 mm high and 4 kg per roll. Budget and Barrier Mesh both come in 1 m × 50 m rolls, weighing 5 kg and 8 kg respectively.

Bison’s 915 mm × 25 m roll weighs 9 kg. Enduro keeps the 915 mm height and adds 5 m of fencing in an 11 kg roll: 20% more length per roll, with 2 kg more to carry.

Hi-Vis Heavy Duty comes in a 1 m × 30 m roll at 14 kg. Compare metres, height and weight together to plan the fence line and the lift.

Choose by mesh grade

Budget’s 100 g/m² HDPE mesh suits short to medium-term work. Barrier Mesh uses 160 g/m²: 60% more material per square metre in the same 1 m × 50 m roll format.

Bison and Enduro share a 400 g/m² mesh grade. Choose between their roll lengths and carrying weights. For long-term use, Hi-Vis Heavy Duty steps up to 450 g/m².

Mesh weight is a material comparison, not a tested strength rating. Use it alongside job duration and reuse needs.
