Protecting buried pipelines takes more than one product. Tapex Industrial brings warning, detection, and physical protection together in one Dig Safe® range. Backed by technical guidance, project support and distribution across Australia, we help specifiers and contractors carry a clear protection strategy from early design through to installation.
Pipeline protection knowledge you can put into a specification.
Tapex Industrial helps engineers and asset owners move beyond general product claims. Technical information, drawings, installation requirements and specialist input provide a clearer basis for assessing options, documenting the selected approach and progressing it through technical review.
A clear path from approved design to product on site.
Once the protection approach is selected, Tapex Industrial supports contractors with product guidance, project pricing, availability, delivery planning and installation information. Distribution across Australia helps reduce the gap between what was specified and what can practically be supplied to the project.
Every layer of pipeline protection in one range.
Different pipeline risks call for different forms of protection. The Dig Safe® range brings warning, detection, identification and physical protection into one coordinated approach, helping project teams select the right layers for the asset, site conditions and excavation risk.

Questions?
Answered.
Specify warning, locating, identification and physical protection around the pipeline’s risks. Warning tape alerts the next crew. A locating system helps them follow the buried route. A protection plate adds a barrier where excavation exposure calls for it. Match each layer to the pipe, ground conditions and owner’s requirements, then show its position and purpose on the drawing.
PVC and HDPE water pipes need a separate locating target for electromagnetic tracing. WAVELAY® detectable tape adds a stainless-steel conductor above the service; Copperhead® tracer wire forms a locating circuit beside the route. Select the system for the installation method, with sound joints, grounding and accessible connection points. Give the next crew a signal to follow, then verify it at handover.
A reliable tracer-wire system needs a continuous conductor, sealed connections, grounding, accessible terminals and compatible locating equipment. Copperhead® brings these parts into one system. Choose the wire grade for open trench or directional drilling, and check the installed circuit before handover. Wire in the ground is a start. A traceable route is the result you need.
Overpipe® protection plates can be lifted for access to a buried pipe and re-laid afterwards. Their openings support drainage and cathodic-protection monitoring, so the barrier can work with the inspection plan. Check the selected plate layout against the pipeline’s coating, monitoring and maintenance requirements. Protect the pipe. Keep the next inspection within reach.
A pipeline protection specification should identify the pipe, excavation risks, selected products, layout and installation requirements. Include the relevant drawings, performance evidence, owner acceptance requirements and locating checks for handover. Tapex’s technical information and specialist input help turn the selection into a detail the crew can use. Put the protection on the drawing before the pipe goes in the ground.
